Autumn

Autumn will be here soon.  We have huge fields of sunflowers growing not far from my house, and that is where my inspiration came from for this card.  Sunflowers remind me that Autumn is not far away, so I wanted to use the A Way With Words 4-Seasons Autumn die cut.  After creating the sunflower, using Susan's Garden Notes Sunflower dies, I decided to see what other items I could add to the card to complete an Autumn scene.

I have used a variety of Susan's die sets:  CountryScapes Build A Scarecrow (scarecrow, bale of hay and Jack o' Lanterns), CountryScapes Country Critters 1 (blackbird), CountryScapes Farm Accessories 1, and Susan's Garden Garden Patch Woodland Leaves.

This is a 6x6 inch card.  For the background, I used a piece of Els van de Burgt, Through The Lens-Wood cardstock.  In the lower right corner, I used one of the Dotted Scallop Circles for a frame for the sunflower. Before taking the circle out of the die, it was sponged lightly with Really Rust Distress Ink.  A black Line Peel Off Sticker was attached around the circle to help make it stand out.  Once the circle was completed, it was glued to the outside corner, with the right side and lower edge hanging over the side of the card; it was trimmed off, with scissors, so only about 3/4 of it was on the card.

Once the Garden Notes Sunflower was created, I decided to use a mixture of Prills for the center of the flower.  The leaves were colored by sponging on Distress Inks.

It is fun to build the Scarecrow using whatever scrapes of cardstock and/or design paper you have.  After the scarecrow was built and all the other pieces die cut, the card was assembled.  Black Peel Off Line Stickers were used around the edge of the card.

Joset Design Sled

Lots of new products will be available at Elizabeth Craft Designs very soon.  This card was designed using one of the new Joset Design die sets - Sled.  Isn't that a fabulous Sled die cut!!!!!  I love it!  The sled was die cut using Soft Finish White Cardstock and the color sponged on.  It is very easy to assemble this sled.  A piece of red twine was added.  The flowers and leaves are also pieces in this die set.

I used a piece of Els van de Burgt  Studio Thorough The Lens Wood card stock for the background.  A black Stitched Oval was die cut and also a white Dotted Scallop Oval, which were layered for the frame.

In the upper left corner, I used Susan's Garden Notes Whitepine Boughs & Pinecone dies to create the pine bough.  The bow on the pine bough was die cut using the die in Joset's Winter Mittens die set.

Joset Designs New Release

I am so excited about all the new die sets being released this month at Elizabeth Craft Designs.  I posted a card earlier today with a card showing Susan's new Garden Notes - Garden Birds 1 die set and one of Suzanne Cannon's new A Way With Words sentiment dies (Noel) but I couldn't wait to show you this new die set from Joset Designs.  The name of the set is Skis.  This fabulous set includes the dies for the skis and poles plus the die cut mountain.  The stamped image is from the new Joset Design stamp set.

These skis are very easy to assemble.  I used small pieces of Elizabeth Craft Designs Peel Off Stickers to decorate both the skis and the polls.  Els van de Burgt Studio Fitted Circle and Dotted Scallop Circle dies were used for a frame for the sentiment.  Three Mountain die cuts were used and the tips sponged with light blue ink. ECD Peel Off Sticker Snowflakes were added to complete the scene.

Be sure to check out the Elizabeth Craft Designs LINK to view all the new products to be released very soon - Click on the Coming Soon Tab.

Garden Notes Cardinal

I have never personally seen a red Cardinal but I love to create Christmas cards with them.  Susan has a new die set, Garden Notes - Garden Birds 1 in her new release at Elizabeth Craft Designs. There are two birds in this set. Isn't this cardinal beautiful!  Also, I have used Suzanne's new A Way With Words Noel die cut which will be available very soon. Suzanne's A Way With Words dies really help create gorgeous cards.

This is a 6x6 inch card.  The Cardinal was die cut using white card stock and colored with a combination of red inks then Susan's black PanPastel was sponged lightly over the bird to give it depth of color.

For the Holly Branch, I used Susan's CountryScapes The Woods 1 die set to die cut the tree.  One smaller side of the tree was cut off and the larger side used for the holly branch.  Two trees were die cut using white card stock then colored with brown markers and glued together, for strength.  The Holly was die cut using the Garden Notes Holiday Holly & Berries die set.  The leaves were colored then Viva Inka Gold paste rubbed over them.  Red flat backed pearls were used for the berries.

The new A Way With Words Noel was die cut using red card stock.  Around the edges of the card Gold Peel Off Line Stickers were added.

Build A Witch

Halloween is not far off!  Susan's new CountryScapes Build A Witch die set is so fun to create cards for this holiday.  I also used Susan's new Shade Trees Stencil for the trees below the witch.  The new products are shown in the Coming Soon Section at Elizabeth Craft Designs.

CountryScapes - Build A Witch

My card base is 6x6 inches.  A piece of Graphic 45 design paper was cut slightly smaller and attached to the card front.  A black frame was cut and glued over the edges.

Using the Els van de Burgt Studio Fitted Circles die set, I die cut an orange moon.  I used the 4th die in from the largest circle die.

There are so many fun ways to create your Witch.  Choose all black for her dress or your favorite design paper with a design.  I used a piece of Graphic 45 design paper for her dress.  I die cut the hat, the dress sleeves, and the legs using black card stock.  I cut the shoes off the black legs.

The face, hands, and legs were die cut using white card stock.  These pieces were colored using a Copic E95 (Flesh Pink) marker.  On the face die cut, the hair was colored black.  The eyes and lips were drawn in with a fine line marker.  On the legs, a marker was used to create stripped stockings, then the shoes, that were die cut using black card stock, were glued on.  For the hat, I die cut it a second time, using dark gray card stock and cut out the hat band and used a black marker to draw on the strips.  A Silver Marker was used to draw in a buckle on both the hat and on the shoes.

The broom was die cut using white card stock and colored using markers.  The cat from CountryScapes Critters 1 die set was die cut using black card stock and a white marker used for the eyes.  The bats were die cut using the die in the CountryScapes Critters 4 die set.

Shade Trees

To create the scene, I used Susan's new Shade Tree Stencil to color in the trees the witch is flying over, right onto the design paper.  I used a black marker to fill in the stencil opening so I achieved a nice dark black image.

The die cut pieces were then attached over the background, above the trees.  The sentiment is one of the stamps in Karen Burniston's What's Up Clear Stamp set.  It was stamped on a light yellow card stock and trimmed with scissors.  On the inside of the card you can stamp Happy Halloween or write your own message.

I am sure you will have a lot of fun creating many different Halloween cards using this cute CountryScapes Build A Witch!

Clay Pot with Marigolds

Good Morning.  Today I have another card from Susan's new collection that will be available soon from Elizabeth Craft Designs.  This card was created with the Garden Notes Marigold and Garden Notes Potted die sets.

This is a 6x6 inch card.  I used a piece of the Els van de Burgt Studio Through the Lens Wood card stock for the background.  Two green ovals were die cut using the Stitched Ovals die set from the Els van de Burgt Studio collection.

Garden Notes - Marigold

Using Susan's new Garden Notes Marigold die set, enough flower petals, to create five Marigolds, were die cut using yellow card stock.  A red marker was used to color the center of each petal, then they were shaped using the tools in Susan's Flower Tool Kit.  A lot of the Marigold leaves were die cut using green card stock.

Garden Notes - Potted

The clay flower pot was die cut using rust card stock, assembled, then sponged with a darker rust ink.

Assemble the pot of Marigolds as shown.

These flowers are so realistic, I can almost smell them!

The products used are available from  Elizabeth Craft Designs.

Asters in Canning Jar

I am excited to announce there are a lot of new products that will be available this month at Elizabeth Craft Designs.  In the Susan's Garden Collection, there are seven CountryScapes die sets, ten Garden Notes dies sets, and five stencils that will be available very soon.

Garden Notes - Aster

Garden Notes - Canning Jar & Lid

Today I am giving you a preview of the new Garden Notes Aster die set and the Garden Notes Canning Jar and Lid die set.

To die cut the Canning Jar, I used a piece of clear acetate and a piece of vellum to represent the water in the jar.  The acetate and vellum were die cut at the same time.  To help show the outline of the jar, I used a fine line black marker to go around the edge of the jar and over the scored lines.  The piece of vellum was cut off to create the water line, which is about 2/3 up from the bottom of the jar.  The vellum was lightly sponged with blue ink.  To attach the vellum to the acetate jar, I use small strips of the Elizabeth Craft Design Clear  Double Sided Adhesive. Since it is clear, it does not show.

Seven Asters were die cut and assembled.  In order to have long stems, as well as the stems that come with the die set, I cut small strips of green card stock that were long enough to reach down in the jar.  There is an opening in the top of the jar so that the stems will fit down inside the jar.

A yellow Dotted Scallop Oval was die cut for the background.  The jar was attached with Clear Double Sided Adhesive along the sides and bottom.  The flower stems were tucked down through the opening in the top of the jar and glued in place.  Some of the leaves were attached to the long stems and additional leaves attached at the base of the flowers. The flowers were attached with glue dots.

Four Els van de Burgt Studio Corners 1 corners were die cut and attached to each corner of the card.  This is an 8 1/2" by 5" card.

The sentiment was die cut using the A Way With Words Get Well Soon die set.
