Wishing You Oceans of Joy

Today is a  beautiful day and would perfect for a sailboat ride.  Today I used the Joset Design Boat, Lighthouse and Rainbow Sky die sets to create this card.

Using the wave die from the Boat die set, three sets of waves were die cut.  Using a white opaque pen, white caps were created on each wave.  The there sets of waves were attached to another piece of blue card stock that was cut slightly uneven for the far edge of the ocean.  The waves were attached to a piece of light blue card stock.  A piece of brown card stock, was cut with scissors, to resemble a shore line and glued to the bottom of the card.

All the pieces for the sailboat were die cut using Joset's Boat die set.  To decorate the sails,  one of the Bead Strings 2 dies was used to create blue strips.  The boat was tucked down in the bottom row of waves.

Joset Design Lighthouse was die cut using two shades of tan card stock.  It was glued to the left edge of the card, leaving part of it off. Scissors were used to trim along the edge.

The clouds and sun were die cut using dies from Joset's Rainbow Sky die set.  To finish the card, one of the sentiments in the Joset Designs Ahoy Sentiments clear rubber stamps was stamped on the bottom of the card.

Glittered Lace Technique

I am having a lot of fun learning new things!  There are so many techniques to learn about on the Elizabeth Craft Designs YouTube videos. Today I watched the Technique Friday with Els - Silk Microfine Glitter Lace YouTube Video for inspiration to create this card.  Here is the LINK. This is a very easy technique that turns out so beautiful.

This card is so gorgeous in real life.  The photo does not pick up the beautiful sparkle in the glitters.  I used the Elizabeth Craft Black Soft Finish Cardstock for the base and completed the lace technique just like Els shows in her video, starting with the Black Silk Microfine Glitter over the lace.  I changed the second color for my card -- Els used Silver Silk Microfine Glitter and I used Turquoise Microfine Glitter. The color combination is gorgeous!

I die cut the A Way With Words Congratulations, using the black card stock.  I then glittered a piece of  turquoise card stock with the Turquoise glitter and attached the sentiment to it.  Around the edges of this frame, I added the Elizabeth Craft Designs Velvet Black Line Stickers.

To compliment the leaves in the lace, I used the Els van de Burgt Studio Leafy Branch to go around the sentiment. To create glittered leaves, Clear Double Sided Adhesive was attached to the card stock and the die placed on the adhesive side to die cut.  The leaves were covered with the Turquoise glitter.

The edges of the black card stock were lined with the Velvet Line Stickers.  To complete the card, Black Velvet Corner Stickers were added.  The black velvet stickers helped to create a very elegant glittered lace card!

626 Turquoise Silk Microfine Glitter
601 Black Silk Microfine Glitter

Hot Air Balloon Pop Up Card

Good Morning.  I love to watch all the helpful YouTube videos showing how to use the different products available from Elizabeth Craft Designs. Today I watched one of Karen Burniston's YouTube Videos called Pop It Ups Hot Air Balloon.  Here is the LINK to this YouTube Video. I followed along with Karen, creating this pop up as she gives very clear instructions.

Karen completed her Hot Air Balloon Pop Up for a very cute Baby Card.  I did not have all the products to make the same card, but it was very easy to create my own design.

I am sure one of my grandchildren will love receiving this Pop Up Hot Air Balloon Birthday card.  On the front of the card I added another Hot Air Balloon with Celebrate for the sentiment.

I used Dotted Scallop Ovals to frame the two sentiments from Karen's What's Up and Farm Greetings Clear Stamps sets.

You will find so much inspiration when you start watching the Elizabeth Craft Designs YouTube Videos  found at this LINK.

The following products used can be purchased from Elizabeth Craft Designs:

Hot Air Balloon with Pop Up

Working with Velvet Adhesive Sheets

I always look forward to seeing what new technique Els is going to show us each Friday.  This week she shows us how to use the Velvet Adhesive Sheets.  Here is the  LINK to Els van de Burgt Studio Technique Friday with Els - Velvet Adhesive Ladybugs YouTube video.

I am ashamed to admit that I have had the sample package of Elizabeth Craft Designs Velvet Adhesive Sheets for probably over a year, and have never used them.  I did not realize how easy they are to die cut and what beautiful items you can create with them.  I have to say that after watching this video, I am hooked!  I love these  velvet adhesive sheets.  Thank you Els for the inspiration to use this fun product.

After watching Els  video on how to create Velvet Adhesive Ladybugs, I had to give it a try.  One thing I changed from the way Els created them, is I used dimensional glue dots under the Ladybug wings instead of clear silicone.  I did not have a tube of silicone and wanted to create the dimensional look, and the glue dots worked!  I'll explain what I did.   In the picture above you can see the glue dots.  I did cut off a glue dot, leaving a piece of the paper, they are attached to, long enough so it would cover the glue dot.  I used scissors to cut the glue dot down the center -- having the paper on top helps make it easy to cut the glue dot.  I place one half of the glue dot on one side of the wing (with the straight edge toward the straight edge of the wing) then the other half on the other wind.  I attached a piece of Clear Double Sided Adhesive, just like Els did in the video, and attached the wings to the black velvet body.  I love the feel of the ladybug!

Els showed how you can use the red velvet for the Joset Designs Strawberry too.  I found another die I could use the velvet sheets for.  I used black and yellow Velvet Adhesive Sheets to die cut the Joset Designs Bee.  So cute!

Els also has a YouTube Video showing the 21 new Silk Microfine Glitters that will be available soon. Here is the LINK to this video. I have a new favorite color -- it is #647 - Light Brown.  I used it on the wings of the Butterfly.  I love this color!!!!!

After creating my three "bugs", I designed a card to show them off.  I used Susan's Seeds of Thought - All Things of Nature rubber stamp for the sentiment.  It was framed using Els van de Burgt Studio Stitched Rectangles, and Dotted Scallop Rectangles die sets.

The die sets used to create the flowers on the card include Susan's Garden Notes Bluebonnet Lupine, Susan's Garden Geranium, and Garden Patch 1-inch & Mini Daisy & Chrysanthemum die sets.  The Leafy Branch die was used for the leaves.

Believe

As many of you know, I like to start making my Christmas cards early so I am not in a rush when the holidays arrive.

How cute is this card!!!!    I love to watch all the Elizabeth Craft Designs YouTube videos for ideas and complete instructions for using their products.  When I saw Karen Burniston's video for this cute Fireplace card, I had to give it a try.  Here is the LINK to Karen's YouTube Pop it Ups - Lots of Pops Fireplace Scene video.  Karen shows how to use the Lots of Pops die to animate this fireplace complete with Santa's boots dangling in the opening.  The boots and stockings are easy to create using Karen's Props 6 Cowboy Boots die set.  It looks like it might be complicated, but Karen's instructions are so easy to follow, giving all the details needed.  I'm sure you will have fun creating this delightful PopUp card.

I love how Karen created this fireplace.  You cut little strips of red card stock and layer them on gray card stock that is covered with a piece of Clear Double Sided Adhesive, then add Pewter Silk Microfine Glitter for the grout.  I was so impressed with how realistic it looks! This technique was used for both the fireplace and the chimney on the front of the card.

I basically created my card the same as Karen, but used my own design paper and added my own touches for the fireplace. Inside the fireplace, I have used Susan's CountryScapes Woods 2 die set.  I have added a piece of design paper to create a wood plank floor on my card.  I love Karen's idea on creating the hearth in front of the fireplace. For the sentiment, I die cut the A Way With Words - Believe using black card stock.

This shows the whole inside of the card.  Don't you love those Santa boots dangling in the fireplace!

This is the front of the card.  Again I used Karen's ideas for the chimney and Santa hat, but decided to use a piece of Els van de Burgt Through The Lens Wood Series Design Paper to create shingles for the roof of the house.  I used a marker to draw in shingle lines on the design paper.  The Elizabeth Craft Alphabet 2 Lower Case Letter die set was used for the ho, ho ho.

This is the first PopUp Fireplace card I have created, but I had so much fun creating it, I plan to make more.

To create this fun card, be sure to watch Karen's YouTube video, for complete instructions.

Pretty Carnations

A bouquet of carnations is so pretty. I have created a very feminine birthday card using Susan Tierney-Cockburn’s Garden Notes Carnation die set.  I am always amazed at the design work of Susan in creating such realistic flower dies.  Aren’t these carnations gorgeous!  Here is how I created this card.
Garden Notes Carnation

1.  Use Garden Notes Carnation die set and light pink tissue paper to die cut petals for the flowers.  The number of petals you die cut will depend on how full you want your carnations.  When using tissue paper, you can fold it so you have 8 or 10 pieces of tissue in a stack to die cut all at one time.  Use the Loop Tool in Susan’s Flower Tool Kit to shape all the petals.  Glue the layers together creating the fullness you want.  Using 4 layers of the smallest petals, I created a couple of carnation buds.
2.  Using the same die set, die cut the stems and leaves from White Soft Finish Cardstock. Sponge Bundled Sage Distress Ink onto the die cut pieces, adding depth and detail.
3.  Attach a piece of design paper of your choice to the front of a 6×6 card.
4.  Use the Dotted Scallop Rectangle die set to die cut the largest rectangle out of White Soft Finish Cardstock.
5.  Use the Fitted Frames 1 Lace Rectangle die set to die cut frames and use the largest frame in this set. (Set aside the rest of the frames for other projects.)
6.  Use the second largest dotted die from the Stitched Rectangles die cut a rectangle from White Soft Finish Cardstock.  Emboss this rectangle with theSwirly Curves Embossing Folder.
7.  Use black ink to stamp Happy Birthday from Joset Designs’ General Sentiments clear stamp set onto a piece of white card stock.  Die cut around the sentiment using the smallest Dotted Scallop Ovals die.  Before removing the piece from the die, sponge on Spun Sugar Distress Ink around the edges.  Color in the letters using the Spun Sugar Marker.  Add three small half-pearls under the sentiment.
8.  Die cut four white cardstock corners using the Corners 1 die set.
9.  Assemble the card as shown, adding a bow above the sentiment and half-pearls to accent the outer corners and the top two corners of the embossed Stitched Rectangle.

Thinking of You

Good Morning.  One of my favorite flowers is the Dogwood.  Today I thought it would be fun to add flowers to Susan's Garden Notes Grapevine Wreath with her pretty Dogwood flowers.

Garden Notes Grapevine Wreath Round

I die cut two round Garden Notes Grapevine Wreaths out of dark green card stock, then used a dark brown marker to go over the branches.  To me, this gave the branches a realistic color.  I was not careful to make sure all the green was covered with the brown ink.  The two wreaths were glued together alternating branches to make it fuller.

Susan's Garden - Dogwood

This is the Dogwood die set.  I die cut twelve dogwoods using white card stock.  Spun Sugar Distress Ink was sponged lightly on the ends of the petals, then each petal shaped using Susan's Flower Tool Kit.  Once the flowers were completed, a dot of glue was added to the center of each flower and the brown Prills from Susan's Secret Garden Prills set were added to the glue.  The leaves were die cut using white card stock and colored with a Copic G21 green marker.  They were also shaped with the tools from the Tool Kit.

Four Leafy Branches were die cut and the leaves shaped.  They were cut in half and attached around the Grapevine Wreath.  The Dogwoods were attached around the wreath, using glue dots.

CountryScapes Wisteria Vine

Once the dogwoods were attached to the wreath with their little leaves, I felt like I needed a little extra color so I used the CountryScapes Wisteria Vine die set and die cut several shades of little purple flowers.  They were shaped then added to the Leavy Branch.  These little purple flowers added just the extra little filler I thought it needed.

In the center of the wreath, I used the smallest Stitched Oval die to die cut a pinkish color oval, then used the smallest Dotted Scallop Oval die set to cut a lavender oval.  The sentiment I used is from Joset Designs General Sentiment Clear Stamps set.  In the upper corners, I die cut two corners using the Corners 1 die set.  To finish the card, a pink silk bow and a few pearls were added.

I love this pretty wreath!
