Heartfelt Creations Lilies

Today I was working with stamps from the new Heartfelt Creations "Sunny Day Collections" and coordinated them with stamps from earlier released Heartfelt Creations stamp sets.  This is one of the things I love about collecting Heartfelt Creations stamps; that they continue to add stamps that coordinate with older sets.

The new stamp I used is the "Botanical Window" from the "Sunny Day Collection".  I used the spray of lilies, on the left, from the older "Easter Lilies" stamp set, and the candles from the "Butter Fly and Lilies" stamp set.   The Window and Easter Lilies were stamp directly on a piece of 5.5" x 6" card stock and colored with Copic markers.   The other piece, with the candles, was stamped on a separate piece of card stock, colored and cut out with scissors. It was attached with dimensional tape.   Before adding the candles, I sponged the panel with Tea Dye Distress Ink.   To complete the card a yellow silk bow and a few Kaiser Craft pearls were added.

Here are all the products used:

Joan's Gardens Weekly Challenge

It is time for a new challenge at Joan's Gardens.  This week the challenge is:
  • Use some kind of lattice - we want you to be creative
  • Use a circle or oval die cut background
  • Create a flower that has been painted.  You can use Gesso on it, acrylic paints, stains, etc. - be creative
  • Include some dry embossing that has been inked.

Today I have used a new embossing folder I have not used yet.  It is the  eBosser "Magic Celebration" embossing folder. The eBosser embossing folders hold an 8 1/2" x 11" piece of card stock and this particular one creates three panels, with score lines for easy folding. Once folded, the left side of the front has a beautiful vine with two small butterflies on it and the right side has a "small" dotted Swiss embossed design.   I love how the embossing wraps around to the back side of the finished card. You can see that in the picture below. It does not show up very well in these photos, but I used a small sponge dauber and added "Peeled Paint" Distress Ink to the embossing.  There are two small butterflies in the embossing and I wanted to make them dimensional, so I used the Martha Stewart 3-1 butterfly punch and used the largest butterfly to glue over the embossed ones.  I wanted to add antenna's and body to the butterflies, so used the one from the Memory Box "Pippi Butterfly" die.  I had to cut the lower portion of the body off  off because this butterfly is very small. It is a perfect fit. I used a Heartfelt Creations sentiment on the inside of the card.  It was stamped on the Marianne Design Oval and attached with adhesive.

For my "creative" lattice, I used the Memory Box "Hopmeadow Circle".  This worked also for the "circle" requirement of the challenge.  This is a gorgeous die to frame my flower.   I attached it to a piece of green card stock and fussy cut around the edges to give it a colored background - very easy to do!  The flower was attached with dimensional glue dots in the center of the doily.  Before attaching it to the left side of the front of the card, I added a Cheery Lynn "Anastasia Border" down the left side, to make the front a little more decorative.  The flower and Hopemeadow Circle were attached with dimensional glue dots added only to the left half of the circle.

The way I created my flower was to die cut the Spellbinders "Rose Creations" flower.  I used the four largest flowers using watercolor paper.  Gesso was "painted over the top of each flower and I let it dry. I used the Adirondack "Cranberry" Acrylic Paint Dabber to add color over the Gesso.  I love the "marbled" look it gives you.  Be sure to wash your hands, the brush and your Teflon mat as soon as you are finished using the Gesso, because once it dries, it is hard to get off.  The flowers were then turned over and I misted each one with water and let them sit for a few minutes before shaping each petal.  Once they were dry, I layered the flower, gluing together with "Crafter's Pick" glue.  This is a fast drying white glue that holds well.  In the center I added some more of the glue and placed in white pearls.

I hope you will join us this week in our challenge.  Be sure to go over to Joan's Gardens to see Joan's beautiful card and to see what the prize is for this week.

Heartfelt Creations Alumni Design Team Blog Hop

This month has gone by fast.  It is time for the February Heartfelt Creations Alumni Design Team Blog Hop. There are seven designers participating this month.  You have a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to shop at Heartfelt Creations by visiting each designer's blog and leaving a comment on each.  The winner will be announced on Saturday, March 2nd.  Here is a list of designers participating this month:

For my card today I have coordinated the older Heartfelt Creations "Dutch Iris" stamps and dies with the new "Sunny Day Collection" design paper.  I love collecting  Heartfelt Creations stamps, dies and coordinating design paper because the "older" and the "new" products always coordinate together to give you endless ideas for creating new beautiful projects.

I love this Heartfelt Creations Iris.  My favorite color of iris is yellow and purple.  I used the  "Dutch Iris Oval Precut Cut"  to stamp the main image, then stamped and die cut pieces  from the "Dutch Iris Medley PreCut Set" to make the iris dimensional.  Chalks were used to color the image.  Joan's Gardens has a supply of the Dutch Iris stamps and dies in stock.

To frame the iris, I used two of the Spellbinders "Labels Twenty" dies to create a frame.  I think you all know I love butterflies and had to coordinate this iris with the beautiful  piece of of design paper from the, new "Sunny Day Collection" 12x12 inch design paper pad .  The green outside frame for this card was created using the Martha Stewart "Floral Border/Corner" punch set. The sentiment is from the Heartfelt Creations "Botanical Oval" stamp set.    A pretty yellow silk bow was added to complete the card.

I'm sure you would all love to win a $25 gift certificate to be given away by Heartfelt Creations, so be sure to visit each of the blogs in this hop and leave a comment for a chance to win.  The next stop will be to see the beautiful card by Kerry Urbatch www.thestampingbug.blogspot.com/.

All these products can be purchased from Joan's Gardens.

Spring is Here

Are you ready for Spring?   We still have lots of snow and it keeps snowing, so I don't think we will have an early Spring, but I decided to create my own Spring by creating a card with Spring flowers.

This card was so much fun to create I didn't want to stop.  Have you ever done that?   I used the Heartfelt Creations "Vintage Floral" dies to create these flowers.  The two smallest flower dies from this set were used. I die cut them using white card stock then sponged the edges of the petals, on front and back, with "Squeezed Lemonade" Distress Ink.  First each flower was shaped using the tools from the Flower Tool Kit to soften the fibers, then Crafter's Pick Glue was brushed on the top side of each flower, then using the large white tool in the Flower Tool kit, I wrapped all the petals up around the large ball end to form this shape.  You do get glue on the tool, but it wipes off easily with a baby wipe. I needed the glue to be pretty tacky when I started shaping them, so I added glue to a bunch of flowers at once, let it sit a couple of minutes, then started shaping.  This helped the petals to adhere to each other to stay in the closed position.   I die cut the stamen, from the Cheery Lynn Build A Flower #2 embellishments, that has many "legs" with a dot on the end, for the stamen in these flowers.  I cut off only 4 or 5 of the "legs" and glued them down in the center of each flower.

After making all the flowers, I had to decide what to do with them.  I thought a basket of flowers would be cute, so used the Cheery Lynn "Spring Basket 1" for both the basket and the "Bunny".  I used a variety of Distress Inks to color the basket.

The fence is the Poppy Stamps "Picket Fence" die.  This is a perfect fence to use for Easter and Spring cards. The grass is the Cheery Lynn "Grass Border".   Behind the Bunny, I wanted something that resembled some type of bush so used one of the Marianne "Leafy embellishments- cutting the stem end off and tucking it behind the bunny.

The basket was attached over the fence then I used glue dots to stick all the yellow flowers down in an arrangement.   These are pretty small flowers, so for leaves I die cut the Marianne Design "Forest Branch" and cut the leaves off to glue around the flowers; they are the perfect size.   The bunny was added with dimensional tape.  A small Kaiser Craft pearl was added for the eye and a small pom pom glued to the tail.

The corners are from Joy! Crafts and the sentiment is from a Penny Black stamp set called "Garden Friends".

I hope you like this card.  It was definitely a lot of fun to create.

Cute Box from a Die

Do you like to create your own packaging for small gifts?   It always brings a smile to the person receiving a gift to see a homemade box, doesn't it.   It is a Sizzix die designed by Eileen Hull. I am sure this is a die you will use over and over.   In my picture the box does not look square because I was trying to get part of the top of the box in the front view of it, but the box is perfectly square and very easy to die cut and put together.  There are only two pieces that need to be glued together to create this box. (There are three tabs you add Scor-Tape to to create the box.) There are also die cut pieces included for the front of the lid and for the sides.

To decorate the lid of the box, I used two different Cheery Lynn Daisy Dies.  The new "Daisy Strip" flowers work well with the "Darling Daisies" to give you a variety of sizes.  I used the Cheery Lynn "Flourish Leaf Strip" for the leaves.  The center of the daisies was created by layering three of the "sun" embellishments from the Cheery Lynn Build A Flower #1 embellishments.  In the very center I added some Lemon Flower Soft to create more fullness.  Under the daisies, I used the new Memory Box "Loom Circle" to create a "wreath" for the daisies.

In this picture you can see the additional die cut included with this box die to give the front portion of the lid a decorative touch.   There is also a matching piece that fits along the top edge of the box, but it is not showing up in this photo.   On the lid I added a MFT "Vintage Flourish" and added another daisy in the center.

Along the bottom of the box I die cut the Memory Box Rounded Fence and pieced them around the lower edge.  To complete the box I added some of the Cheery Lynn "Mini Dimensional Butterflies".  There are seven different butterflies, plus the angel wings in this set.  I did not use the angle wings this time.

Joan's Gardens Weekly Challenge

It is time for a new challenge at Joan's Gardens..

Joan has a fun challenge again this week.  Here are the requirements:
  • Polka Dots
  • Vellum
  • Oval

For the polka dots, I used a piece of white vellum and embossed it in the eBosser Delicate  Dots embossing folder.  It was layered over pink card stock.  You all know I love to work with vellum, so I decided to create my flowers out of a printed vellum.  I used the Spellbinders "Spiral Blossom" die for the largest flower and the MFT "Royal Rolled Rose" die for the two smaller one.  Two rolled roses were die cut out of the vellum for each flower.  Before shaping the flowers I sponged on "Picked Raspberry" Distress Ink on the bottom only of each die cut flower.  Then to get a very full looking rose, I layered two of the die cut roses together, slightly offsetting one on top of the other, then used the self-closing tweezers to roll them up.  I love how delicate the roses look out of vellum.

The next requirement was to use an "oval".   First I die cut the Joy Crafts (6002/0147) doily then layered the Marianne Design "Oval" (LR0235) on top of it.  I sponged on Spun Sugar Distress Ink around the edges, to make the oval stand out.  In the center of the oval I stamped one of the sentiments from the JustRite "Seeds of Summer" stamp set.  The oval was attached with dimensional tape.

The flowers were added then foliage from the Marianne LR0192, LR0157, and LR0156 die sets were added.  I die cut one pink and one white of the first two and added only white leaves.  The corners are die cut using the Joy Crafts (6002/0136) dies.  The butterfly is from the Cheery Lynn "Exotic Butterfly" set.  It was attached with dimensional tape.  I always think the Kaiser Craft pearls add that special finishing touch, so pink pearls were added to complete this card.

Heartfelt Creations Sunny Day Collection

Have you all seen the new Heartfelt Creations "Sunny Day Collection" that was released this month?   There are six beautiful stamp sets that coordinate with the beautiful "Sunny Day Paper Collection".  The Heartfelt Creations Design paper packs come in a 12"x12" pack which will create gorgeous scrapbook pages, but it also makes it so easy to use for creating or covering boxes.  There are 24 double sided sheets in this collection.   Today I have another box I covered with this gorgeous paper.  This set of stamps coordinates with the Heartfelt Creations "Posy Patch" and "Pristine Lilies" PreCut stamps and dies.

I used one sheet of the 12x12 paper to cover this box.  I used one of the gorgeous designs on the front and added a few stamped "Posy Patch" flowers that were die cut using the matching dies.  I added a little extra color to the design using Distress Markers.

I added some stamped images to the sides and back panels.  There was plenty of the design paper on this sheet, without a stamped image, so I could put on a design that fit the area. Below are pictures of the sides and back of this box.

This is a picture of the top of the lid.  I used one of the sentiment panels in the design paper pack.  I know you will love working with this new collection from Heartfelt Creations.

You can purchase individual stamp sets, the decorative corner butterfly dies, or the design paper, but Joan also offers a great discount in the "I Want It All" (IWIA) collection. Be sure to go over to her blog to check it out.   If you don't already have them, you might also want the "Posy Patch" and "Pristine Lilies" stamps and dies that coordinate with this collection.

There are more beautiful stamps in this collection that feature the Pristine Lilies and I will be posting more projects with these stamps in later posts.

Daisy Die Tutorial

The other day I posted a tutorial on how to create a "Lazy Daisy" using the new Cheery Lynn "Daisy Strip"dies.  Here is the link to that card. Today I thought I would show you another way to create a different, pretty flower using these same dies.  Before I do the tutorial, I will tell you about this card.

For the background I used a piece of the Memory Box "Brioche" 6x6 design paper.  The white frame is the new Memory Box "Honey Blossom Frame" lined with the Memory Box "Debutante Frame" that was embossed with the eBosser "Dainty Dots" embossing folder.   The little tag in the lower right side is the smallest of the Spellbinders "Labels 20" dies. In the center is stamped "Hello" from the JustRite "Seeds of Summer" stamp set.  The pretty butterfly is new from Memory Box and was created by layering the "Pippi and Isabella Butterflies.   The white leaves are from the Cheery Lynn "Build A Flower #2 Embellishments".

"
The Cheery Lynn "Daisy Strip" has two each of three sizes of daisies.  I used all three sizes for each flower.  There are four layers of each size in one flower - a total of 12 layers.  To give the flower some "contrast" in color, I used two shades of pink card stock - alternating the colors.  Each petal was shaped by using the self-closing tweezers from the Flower Tool Kit.  The tweezers were placed on the tip and I used my fingers to pinch in the petal.  I did lightly mist the flowers using the "Mister" by Ranger which sprays a very thin mist and does not get the card stock overly wet.   The card stock needs to be just moist to hold the shape.

After all the petals on each "daisy" were shaped, I layered first a dark pink, then a light pink, using two dark and two light pink flowers, creating four layers of each size.  The four largest were place on the bottom, then the middle size stacked on top.  The layer of the smallest flowers was pinched up to create a closed center.  All these layers created a very pretty, dimensional flower.

You can see how realistic this flower looks in this picture.  Don't you love that you can use your flower dies to create so many different types of flowers.  I haven't even used this die yet for just a regular daisy.  I wonder what else I can come up with this set of dies!

For Someone Special

Today I designed a card using the new butterfly by Joy! Crafts and the small flowers from the Cheery Lynn "Build A Flower #3 Embellishments".

The background was created by using the Sizzix "Botanicals" embossing folder and rubbing the Tim Holtz "Bundled Sage" Distress Ink Pad over the smooth side of the folder to add color to the background.  The large flower was created with one of the Spellbinders "Bitty Blossoms" dies.  The small leaves are the Cheery Lynn "Flourish Leaf" and the tiny flowers are from the Cheery Lynn "Build A Flower #3 Embellishments" die.  I always love to have very small flowers to add around larger flowers, or even too use just on a vine.

The doily used behind the flowers is from the Marianne Design (LR0117) die set.  This doily set also include two very pretty leaves.   The sentiment is from the Stampavie (Tina Wenke) "With Love" stamp set.  The Butterfly was die cut and sponged around the edges with a darker pink and attached only at the body.  Along the bottom of the card I added the Memory Box "Latchette Border".  Kaiser Craft pink pearls were added to complete the card.

Joan's Gardens Weekly Challenge

I know I am a day late with my card for the new challenge at Joan's Gardens but Joan has posted a very fun challenge for us.   For an update, my husband is out of the hospital and is now recovering at home.  I still have a lot of doctor/treatment appointments and I'm not always able to spend a lot of hours creating, but things are getting better.  I want to thank all of you for your well wishes.

Joan's challenge this week is to:
  • Create an outdoors scene
  • Create a birthday card

Please go over to Joan's Gardens to see Joan's fabulous card and to read all the details about this challenge.

To create my outdoors scene, I used the new Poppy Stamps "Madison House Set".   This set includes a door, window, flower box, ledge, roof, and roof line, so there are lots of possibilities creating with this die set.  The pieces were die cut using black card stock then were attached to a piece of dark brown card stock that was embossed with the Sizzix "Bricked" embossing folder.  The curtains were die cut using the new Poppy Stamps "Lace  Curtains" die.  I only used a small portion of the curtains in these windows.  The die includes a valance and the two side panel curtains and you can use these curtains on a much larger window.

The background is a page from the Memory Box "Brioche" 6x6 paper collection.  The fence was die cut using the Impression Obsession "fence". The grass was die cut using the MFT "Fresh Cut Grass" die and the little flowers were die cut using the Memory Box "Floral Delights" die.  To create the yellow flower, I used the Cheery Lynn "Build A Flower #2" dies and Embellishments.  The additional leaves under the flower were die cut using the Cheery Lynn "Flourish Leaf Strip".

I hope you will join in on the fun challenge this week at Joan's Gardens

Heartfelt Creations Sunny Day Collection

Today is the release of the new Heartfelt Creations "Sunny Day  Collection".   I am sure we are all ready to starting thinking about beautiful gardens and we can do that with this beautiful collection.   I decided to create a group of cards and place them in a box for a birthday gift.

I started with a 5.5" square box that I wanted to recycle.  There are 24 gorgeous design papers in the "Sunny Day Collection" Paper Pad you can work with to create beautiful recycled boxes, or even create your own box with the design paper.  On the outside, I did use a small portion of the recycled box, but covered the top, sides and all the inside using the Sunny Day Collection paper.

This picture shows you both the top of the finished box as well as the inside.  I used the same design paper on the outside walls of the box as I did on the walls of the inside.  I cut one of the pieces of design paper in four pieces and used one corner of it on the lid, and another corner on the inside.   On the lid, I added one of the die cuts from the "Decorative Butterfly Corner (HCD 730).  There are two sizes in this package.  The sentiment is from the Heartfelt Creations "Melodious Songbird" stamp set (HCPC 3511).

The very first Heartfelt Creations stamp set I worked with was the "Posy Patch" flowers (HCPC 3303) and matching dies (HCD 701).  It is so nice that these stamps still coordinate with so many of the much later released sets. I used a gray ink to stamp the smallest Posy Patch flower on light yellow card stock and die cut with the matching dies.

This card was created with one of the gorgeous butterfly stamps in the "Butterfly Medley PreCut Set" HCPC 3519).  It is the same butterfly you see in the design paper on the lid of the box.  It was colored with Distress Markers and the edges sponged with Distress Ink.  The top of the card was embossed with one of the embossing folders from the Sizzix "Corners & Lattice" set (656979). A silk bow and Kasier Craft pearls were added to complete the front of the card.

One of the things I love about the Heartfelt Creations Design Paper pads   is that it also includes blank matching frames and also frames with sentiments.  The sentiment on the inside of this card is from the design paper.

I don't want to make this post too long, so I won't describe how the following cards were created, but I do want to show you a two more of the beautiful images in this collection.  I will describe these in a later post.

Sneak Peek

I was not able to create new cards yesterday or today because my DH is in the hospital.  He is doing fine and will be coming home this afternoon.  Today I decided to give you a sneak peek at one of my projects  for the new Heartfelt Creations "Sunny Day Collection" which will debut tomorrow.  This is another beautiful collection featuring 24 new 12"x12" design papers, gorgeous large corner dies, and six stamps sets featuring beautiful butterflies, flowers, and other items you would find in a lovely summer garden. I know we are all ready to start thinking about sunny days rather than all the cold weather most of us have had this year, and you will be able to get lost in the beauty of summer when you work with this beautiful collection.

You will be able to view this new collection, along with my projects, tomorrow over at Joan's Gardens.  You won't want to miss it.

Have a great day.

Lazy Daisy Tutorial

I love daisies- don't you. I want to show you a different way of using them.  There are three different sizes of daisies on this strip.  I used the largest  flowers for this card.  Rather than using them just as die cut, I decided to create a "lazy" daisy.   Before I do the tutorial, I will tell you about the other parts of the card.

The background design paper is from the Kaiser Craft "Lullaby Collection" paper pad.  This is a 5.5" x 6" card.   The frame I used is the Cheery Lynn "Lattice #2" Frame Die.   In the center of this frame I added the Spellbinders Picot Edge Circle die cut with blue card stock.  The beautiful corners are the new Joy! Crafts (0135) corners.  I love how well they coordinate with the Lattice frame.  The flowers were attached the center of the Spellbinders Circle with dimensional glue dots placed right under the yellow part of the flower. The stems and leaves were then added under the flowers.  The butterfly is the new Memory Box "Pippi" and Isabella" butterfly.  I love this smaller size butterfly.  A small gingham  bow and Kaiser Craft Pearls were added to complete the card.

I wanted to tell you if you run the Pippi Butterfly through your machine with the embossing pad, it really gives it a pretty rounded edge.  As you know I use the eBosser machine.  The embossing pad for this machine is much thinner than the pads for other machines.  I really didn't think it would do a very good job because of how thin it is.  I was really surprised that you get a much deeper embossing with the eBosser.  I wish you could see the beautiful detail on those corners.  If you have the eBosser, be sure to run your items through with the embossing pad for really beautiful details.  You just need to take out the "E" shim, which is the thinnest shim, when using the embossing pad.

This is how I created the "lazy" daisy. The daisy die cut has 7 petals.  I used the largest stylus from the Flower Tool Kit to shape each petal.  Four of the petals were shaped to bend down and three were shaped to bend up.  I folded the daisy in "half" with the four petals folded over three petals.  All the petals are now bent under.   A dab of glue was put right in the center of the folded flower and held for a second or two so it stays closed.
For the center of the daisy, I used the smallest dies in the Spellbinders "Classic Ovals Scalloped" dies.  It was die cut using a light yellow card stock.  I only used one end of this oval.  You can make it as large as you like, trimming the edges to fit in the center of the flower. Attach with a little glue to the center of the folded flower.

To make the center more realistic, I added glue to the yellow portion and dipped it in "Lemon Yellow" Flower Soft. In this picture you can see the difference the Flower Soft made.  The flower on the right does not have Flower Soft added to it yet.   If you want a brown center you could use "Toffee" Flower Soft or even "Black".   These daisies would be very pretty die cut in yellow or pink then add a dark center.

For the stems and leaves, I used the Cheery Lynn Build A Flower Embellishments #2 dies.  The stems have thorns, to go with the roses, but I just sniped them off, then added the leaves.

I hope this tutorial gives you additional ideas for using the fun "Daisy Strip" dies.

Joan's Gardens Weekly Challenge

It is time for a new challenge over at Joan's Gardens.  The week you are to create a card as follows:

Use Blue, White and Green
Use a Flower that has a pattern
Use an Oval
Use a stamped sentiment

For my card I used a piece of design paper from the "Reflections Collections 6x6" pad by Prima.   The ovals are two dies from the Marianne Design LR0235 die set. Dimensional tape was used under both of the ovals to give it some dimension.  The sentiment is from the Our Daily Bread "Birthday Blessings" stamp set.  The rose was created with the same design paper as the background. I used the MFT "Royal Rolled Rose" die.   Behind it I added pieces from the new Memory Box "Bali Corner".  It was cut twice  and the flowers were cut off the stem from a die cut using blue and white design paper.

On the left of the oval I added three of the Memory Box "Hollyhock Stems".  I used a piece of green card stock and a piece of design paper layered together for each stem so I could cut off the flowers and attach them to the green stem.  Kaiser Craft blue pearls were added to the center of the flowers.
